Story

Story

This is the story of a Guni (Local expert of herbal medicines) who was barely able to survive even after providing valuable services to the people in the village Kalyanpura of Dudu Block by. The NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY staff started sharing his knowledge and thus there was exchange of knowledge. The Guni was encouraged to grow medicinal plants and was provided help from NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY. As a result, the guni is now able to earn enough living from his knowledge and wisdom.

He is growing medicinal plants and also making tablets, which he makes with the help of equipments provided by NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY. Earlier he was unable to provide medicines to many needy people in spite of his knowledge as he did not have any money to prepare medicines and store them safely. NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY also had to persuade people to move from social evil of blind faith on witchcraft (commonly called "Jhar phoonk"). As a result of efforts of Navjeevan Society , he is now able to earn at least Rs. 3,000/- monthly and also serves many people who suffer from common diseases.

Story

This is a story of women of village Jhund in Rampura Unti Panchayat, dominated by Rajput families, where parda system was in extreme. When NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY initiated its activities in the village, the women never used to come out for discussion. They were completely unaware of outside world. with some efforts talks initiated and they informed that they cant even talk to their husbands. Parda system was such that men didn't even allowed women to fetch water and used to collect the same themselves. Sitting in panchayat meetings etc. Could not even be dreamt. Women were frequently beaten up by their husbands. Initially one or two women started sitting with our team. Girls were not allowed to go to school. After intense effort and persuasion of NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY team, women started joining but initially only 17 women came forward but now there are 80 women who have come out of the state of bondage.

There are 4 SHGs in the village now which are running without support of NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY. Nearly all the girls of school going age are attending the school. With efforts of women's group the school is upgrade to upper primary and soon would be a high school. One of the SHG has a saving of Rs. 80,000/- The most interesting part of the story is that the women's group has given guarantee for a loan from NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY to the men's group who once didn't allow the women to talk to NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY team. The efforts of NAVJEEVAN SOCIETY team are now bearing fruits and have brought a great change in the lives of women of Jhund village.
